RADD began when our founder was struck head-on by a drunk driver in Cheyenne, WY in 2019. He sustained multiple injuries to his brain and body. He flatlined on the table, but the persistent Emergency Staff brought him back to life.
When he awoke from his coma, he found that his entire old life was gone, and a new life had started. One in which he was broke, disabled, and had virtually no support of any kind. His idea for addressing situations like this is what started Riders Against Drunk Drivers.
Our mission is to create a family of bikers, riders, drivers that stick together to help those affected by the horrific effects of drunk driving.
Primarily, our goal is to grow enough to retain a law firm or group of law firms to be our front line of defense and recourse should we find ourselves in our founder's unthinkable situation.
Second, we'd like to grow enough to be able to provide temporary family assistance with daily living after such an event. Something that RADD's founder struggled for months to find.
Third, as our presence grows, so does the awareness of the effects of live-changing, and life-ending wrecks caused by drunk driving. Individually, we are all responsible for our actions. But the presence is small. When we all come together as a community, it will be huge.
Please consider becoming a part of our family and let's help those affected by this horrendous act of irresponsibility.
Our founder was hit head on by a drunk driver that swerved into his lane. He was on his motorcycle and his head hit the car's passenger side pillar.(where the windshield and the car door meet)
- A drunk driver (with 3 DUI's prior) was driving drunk again and swerved out of their lane and into oncoming traffic where our Founder was riding his Harley. Our founder was sober but the other driver was not; In fact, there were only 3 blocks between the other driver's house and the bar they had just left.
- First responders, paramedics, police etc., got to him as soon as possible ; however his skull and body were so badly damaged they did not have time to life flight him to the best hospital in Denver, and instead took him to the closest and quickest hospital which was right there in Cheyenne, WY.
- A portion of his skull was removed and put into a freezer to preserve it, while the swelling of his brain went down, yet he lost sight in one eye.
-He "Flatlined" right there in Cheyenne; fortunately, he was revived and got a second chance, but his brain was damaged.
-After a few months in a coma, he lived, and had to re-learn how to talk, walk, eat, etc. , defying what the doctors believed he would ever be able to do.
- He began to draw pictures that eventually became our patch.
- The classical Riders Against Drunk Driver's tombstone patch and the whole idea started coming together right then and there.
So, just wear it and be proud.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
