Our goals are simple and our message is powerful. If we choose to drink, we choose not to drive. We have started a movement and together we can all be part of something so simple, so easy, and so important that it will change the world. The choice to partake is your's but the lives of the innocent are not your's to take. We choose a lifestyle with the mindset and level of consciousness that has never been achieved on a scale like this, ever before. So, hop on and ride with us, as brothers and sisters, and together we all will win.
Riders Against Drunk Drivers is a nation wide, nonprofit organization, specifically created and designed to put and end to drinking and driving once and for all. Our mission is to raise awareness of the human race to rise up, unite and choose to move forward, each day making wise choices and taking responsibility to teach others how they too can save lives. We are mature people from all walks of life who choose that impaired driving is simply no longer acceptable. Whether you ride a bicycle or a tricycle, a horse, or a wheelchair it makes no difference to us, because members of R.A.D.D. are responsible, determined & dedicated to making wise choices in life, staying focused and centered around the simple fact that impaired driving has taken way too many lives and caused so much unnecessary pain, grief and sadness.
All of our hats and patches are made in WY, where our founder was hit head on by a drunk driver that swerved into his lane. He was on his motorcycle and his head hit the car's frame (where the windshield and the car door meet).
A quick, accurate and true Backstory of the founder goes like this:
- A drunk driver (with 3 DUI's prior) was driving drunk again and swerved out of their lane into oncoming traffic while he was riding his Harley. Our founder was sober but the other driver was not; In fact, there were only 3 blocks between the other driver's house and the bar they had just left.
- First responders, paramedics, police etc., got to him as soon as possible ; however his skull and body were so badly damaged they did not have time to life flight him to the best hospital in Denver, and instead took him to the closest and quickest hospital which was right there in Cheyenne, WY.
- A portion of his skull was removed and put into a freezer to preserve it, while the swelling of his brain went down, yet he lost sight in one eye.
-He "Flatlined" right there in Cheyenne; fortunately, he was revived and got a second chance, but his brain was damaged.
-After a few months in a coma, he lived, and had to re-learn how to talk, walk, eat, etc. , defying what the doctors believed he would ever be able to do.
- He began to draw pictures that eventually became our patch.
- The classical Riders Against Drunk Driver's tombstone patch and the whole idea started coming together right then and there.
So, just wear it and be proud.
